What Causes Type 2 Diabetes
The causes of type 2 diabetes develops over a long period of time (in years), and during this period the insulin resistance (IR) begins. Now, insulin resistance is the state where the insulin gradually becomes ineffective to maintain the blood sugar (glucose) levels. And due to this insulin resistance (IR), the pancreas acts in response by producing more and more insulin amounts, in order to attempt and accomplish the maintenance of the blood sugar (glucose) levels. This entire process happens over a very long time period and is progressive in nature.
Since this insulin over production happens over a very long time phase, the pancreas cells which over produce insulin gets exhausted. And by the time an individual realizes that he or she is suffering from Type 2 diabetes, they already have lost about 50 to 70 percent of those insulin producing cells. This condition is a blend of not enough insulin and ineffective insulin. Type 2 diabetes is a progressive chronic condition where the progression is with the continuing destruction of the pancreatic cells which produce insulin.
